World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade

The upgrade feature for items allows players to increase the level of equippable weapons or armor. This improves the stats of that equipment, and also sometimes adding buffs or the rerolling of an affix.

It is important to remember that while you can upgrade magic and common equipment, it's usually not worth the effort. Rare and exclusive gear will quickly outclass modernized magic and common equipment.

Cost

The player must pay gold to upgrade an item. The cost of upgrading an item depends on its current level and type of upgrade items selected. For example upgrading a weapon will typically be cheaper than upgrading armor because weapons have lower level requirements. The amount of Gold required to upgrade an item increases when the item is upgraded to the next level.

An upgraded item will also come with increased stats, which can boost its performance in a variety of ways. This could include increasing its attack power or critical strike chance. Additionally an upgraded item could be able to offer additional bonuses to its equipped unit. These upgrades are able to boost the overall strength of a group or a single unit, and could be a major influence on the gameplay.

Any item upgrader NPC can be found in the game. Generally these NPCs are found in capital cities or major questing locations. Players can also find upgraders when they visit dungeons with high-level bosses and by talking to the NPCs in their faction's garrisons.

The item upgrade system in World of Warcraft provides players with the ability to upgrade the level of armor, weapons, and trinkets. This process is similar to the gear reforging process in Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor. However, instead of using currency, players need to visit an upgrader for their item to complete the process.

Item upgrades can be expensive, particularly when it is related to armor and weapons. Depending on the upgrade track each step up in item level can cost several Valorstones or crests. The total costs can be a major burden for players who don't have the funds or aren't willing to grind them.

Requirements

Recycled items will not keep their status or the amount of resources needed to upgrade them.

The maximum level of upgrade for an item is determined by the item's tier as well as its quality.
